With an interest in education and 25 years of individual game development, they have built a company dedicated to improving surgical training, both in terms of skill and pre-operative planning.

Blue Print Reality: MixCast to Seamlessly Blend Realities for Instant Sharing of Virtual Experiences

Tarrnie Williams, CEO at Blueprint Reality Inc. | Website

Blueprint Reality are the creators of the MixCast platform and the MixCast VR Marketing System, a video-based mixed reality program that shows users in a VR experience, automatically captures pictures and videos of them in the virtual world they’re in, and delivers immediately accessible, personalized, shareable social media content.

Intelligent Visual Sensor for Senior Care

Dr. Jie Liang, President of AltumView Systems Inc., and Professor of the School of Engineering Science, Simon Fraser University

AltumView's smart visual sensor has a powerful AI chip that runs the latest deep learning algorithms. When abnormal events such as falls are detected, it sends stick figure animation alerts instead of videos to protect seniors’ privacy. It can also identify symptoms of some diseases, highlight dangerous areas, and conduct fall risk assessments. Youtube link

Simulation-based Education for Continuing Professional Development and Systems Improvement in Healthcare

Christina Choung, Regional Clinical Educator - Simulation

The simulation team collaborates with provincial and national partners to upskill VCH Staff in simulation theory and application. The team shares a repository of simulation tools, including manikins, task trainers, scenarios, and uses simulation as an educational method to reveal gaps and tests solutions related to systems processes.

Pocket Pelvis - Combining 3D Printing With AR for an Interactive Learning Tool for the Pelvis

Dr. Claudia Krebs, Gross Anatomy & Neuroanatomy Professor of Teaching, UBC | Website

PocketPelvis is an AR application to provide a unique learning experience for medical students learning to visualize the pelvis in 3D. The pelvis is printed in 3D, while the associated structures are created in Blender, and superimposed onto the physical model using Unity and Vuforia.
